The Twilight Saga

(No Spoilers)

Dear Diary,

Twilight is a pop culture phenomenon. I remember the days people were fighting about Team Edward or Team Jacob? The answer is obviously Edward. If you say Jacob… leave this blog immediately.

team edward vs team jacob

Twilight tells the story of Bella Swan and the vampire she falls in love with, Edward Cullen. Bella moves to the small and rainy town of Forks, Washington, to live with her father after her mother remarries. She doesn’t expect much, but she ends up intertwined in a small-town suspicion and a mysterious coven of vampires.

Sorry, but it’s so iconic. I will say, it is a guilty pleasure. IT IS IN NO WAY A CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE. There’s no need to go all deep and tear it apart BECAUSE WE KNOW IT IS NOT PERFECT. WHATEVER. Let me sit back and enjoy it in peace. I didn’t read the books, so I’m fake, but the movies are supernatural romance gold. It screams teenager. Bella and Edward are acting like they are 17, MAYBE BECAUSE THEY ARE. Even though Edward is technically 104 years old…

The one thing nobody can deny is how outstanding the music is. Other than that, the writing, visuals, effects, etc are quite bad. The teenage target audience is quite clear, and if you have an adult review this series they are going to tell you it’s awful. But personally, I am their perfect target audience and I eat it up. It hits fall, the air is crisp, the leaves are falling… and Twilight will be playing on my TV. It’s an immediate choice, no questions asked. The first movie is the PERFECT VIBE. The atmosphere, the colour palette, the costumes, the details, the landscape, the nature.. its all giving THE VIBE.

I love all the characters. They all hit the mark for me. Obsessed with the Cullen family and obsessed with Bella’s dad. Edward and Bella’s relationship felt rushed to me and it could have had more depth. However, their chemistry is undeniable. The love triangle is iconic and it added some spice to the series. Jacob makes me cringe but it gives me a good laugh.
