    Process Post #7

I started this week by making some adjustments to my site thanks to feedback from my peer reviews. Eva called out one of the things I was struggling with, and this motivated me to finally find a solution. She wrote about how when you press on my main menus, it opens a blank page. I wasn’t sure if this would be an issue or not, because for me, I know to just hover over the button and select one of the drop down menus. However, I found that other people are tempted to click the main menu right away, leading them to a blank page and utter confusion. I wasn’t…

Dear Diary, My mom is from Peru, so I have grown up in the Peruvian culture my whole life. I was lucky enough to visit every year, so I am quite familiar with Peruvian food. However, I was a picky brat kid who couldn’t stand the food. That’s so embarassing but I was just a silly kid ok don’t blame me. Now that my taste has matured, I can appreciate many more cuisines. I’ve been wanting to try Peruvian food again to give it another shot, but I’ve realized that Vancouver is very deprived of this cuisine. Whenever I go places I’m always shocked to see Peruvian restaurants, since it…

    The Twilight Saga

(No Spoilers) Dear Diary, Twilight is a pop culture phenomenon. I remember the days people were fighting about Team Edward or Team Jacob? The answer is obviously Edward. If you say Jacob… leave this blog immediately. Twilight tells the story of Bella Swan and the vampire she falls in love with, Edward Cullen. Bella moves to the small and rainy town of Forks, Washington, to live with her father after her mother remarries. She doesn’t expect much, but she ends up intertwined in a small-town suspicion and a mysterious coven of vampires. Sorry, but it’s so iconic. I will say, it is a guilty pleasure. IT IS IN NO WAY…

    Grey’s Anatomy

Dear Diary, (This section is Spoiler-free) It’s time to talk about one of my favourite shows. It’s a little concerning how many times I’ve rewatched this show. I’m not even kidding I think it’s been at least 6 or 7 times. It’s even more alarming because of how many seasons there are. There are now 20 seasons! This is insane and way too much. Yes, I love the show, but all good things come to an end. GREY’S ANATOMY is a hospital-set dramedy that starts by following the lives of five interns, including Meredith Grey, as they adjust to their new surroundings at Seattle Grace Hospital. As TV’s longest-running primetime…

https://maddysarahtayylor.com/ Maddy’s blog is very simple and clean. I love this look but I feel like it’s a bit plain and it could have more added to it to make it stand out more! Adding some features and dimensions to the design will make it more appealing. I love the logo and how it matches the aesthetic of the blog. She has great drop downs for her menus and it helps organize her site well. Her first fashion post about trench coats is my favourite. I love the language and tone she uses as it is very engaging and personal. I also think it was a great touch to add…

    Process Post #6

A big topic this week was digital literacy. Digital literacy is the ability to critically analyze stories presented in the media and determine their credibility. Gottfried and Liedke, claim that “In a recent Pew Research Center survey, half of 18- to 29-year-olds in the United States say they have some or a lot of trust in the information they get from social media sites” (2022). As a blogger, this means carefully evaluating the sources I use in my content. I also need to be aware of the potential for inaccuracies or biases in the information I encounter or share. It is a tricky situation since I’m not posting news, I’m…

    Nook

Dear Diary, The other night I went to Nook with my friends. We were craving some good pasta and we’ve all never been there before and wanted to try it out. Location: They have amazing locations. They are in such prime areas such as Kitsilano, Shipyards, Science World, Downtown Vancouver, etc. We went to Shipyards that night! I love the Shipyards area so this location was perfect for us. Service: I’m not going to lie it wasn’t good. Nobody checked in to see how we liked our drinks or food. I feel like this is one of the most basic things you can do. We had to ask people walking…

Drake: It’s All A Blur Tour

Dear Diary, I love Drake! He is one of my favourite artists. I went to his Scorpion Tour and had the best time and since then, he has come out with many more albums. So when It’s All A Blur got announced, I was dying to go. But then, tickets sold out in 1 minute and the resales were INSANE. I thought it wasn’t going to happen for me and I was crushed. But then, his first show got cancelled, causing chaos in Vancouver. This meant that some people weren’t able to go to the now rescheduled show on Wednesday. One of those unlucky people was my friend and he…
